College within the High School (CHS)
College within the High School (CHS) is a Dual Enrollment program offered by Butler County Community College (BC3) and Mars Area High School, enabling students to take college courses at Mars Area High School during regular school hours.
To enroll in these most of these courses, a student must be a sophomore with a cumulative QPA of 3.25 or better; a junior with a cumulative QPA of 3.0 or better; OR a senior with a cumulative QPA of 2.75 or better.

BC3 Application
A student must complete a BC3 application to enroll in a BC3 CHS courses. The student is responsible for paying any BC3 tuition and fees for such courses and for purchasing the required textbook, if needed. In addition, placement tests are necessary for enrollment for certain courses. For an application, click on the following:
Because BC3 and Mars Area High School have grading periods that do not coincide, students will receive grades from each respective institution. Students may contact their high school guidance counselor for eligibility requirements.
Students who successfully complete CHS courses can earn up to three (3) college credits from BC3. It is the student’s responsibility to work with a BC3 Transfer Counselor to determine those credits will transfer to another college or university.
