Mars Area High School kicked off its 2017 Homecoming Spirit Week with the schoolu2019s annual Powder Puff Football Games, held Sept. 24 at Mars Athletic Complex.<br><br>In the first game, Seniors vs. Freshmen, senior Landri Shannon scored an early touchdown, to which Kathryn Schlegel quickly responded for the Freshmen Team. Kinsley Bitzer earned a second touchdown for the Seniors, bring the score to <br>12-6 at the half.<br><br>In the second half, Schlegel earned another touchdown for the Freshman; however, the Senior Team welcomed two addition touchdowns run in by Bitzer and a completed two-point conversion, caught by Jacque Croissant. The game ended with a 26-12 win by the Seniors.<br><br>In the second game, Juniors vs. Sophomores, the teams were evenly matched with touchdowns by junior Lindsey Scott and sophomore Katie Skirtich, but a successful field goal attempt by Caroline <br>Barent put the sophomores on top with a halftime score of 14-12.<br><br>In the second half, Paige Seles earned another six points for the Juniors; but, a touchdown by sophomore Mara Fuller and subsequent field goal by Barent, the Sophomores took the game with a final score of 7-6.<br><br>In the final game, Seniors vs. Sophomores, the Sophomore Team dominated the first half with touchdowns by Skirtich and Fuller and two field goals by Barent, setting the score at 14-0 at the half. A scoreless second half, led to victory for the Sophomore Team with a final score of 14-0.
