Mars Area High School Boys Varsity Soccer Team will take on the Thomas Jefferson Jaguars in the Third Place Consolation Match of the 2018 WPIAL Class 3A Boys Soccer Championship at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1, at Moon Area High School.

The Fightin’ Planets advanced to the WPIAL semifinals on Oct. 29, but were defeated 4-3 after a penalty shoot-out. The team tamed the South Fayette Lions 4-3 in the WPIAL quarterfinals on Oct. 25; and subdued the Chartiers Valley Colts 4-1 in the first round of the WPIAL playoffs on Oct. 22.

The team ended the 2018 regular season with an overall record of 16-1-1 and remaining undefeated (14-0) in section play, earning the Section 1-3A title.
