Mars Area School District will hold a “Kindness Celebration" from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, at Mars Athletic Complex.

Note: Mars Athletic Complex will be closed to the public from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, during the celebration. In the event of inclement weather, the celebration will be held on Thursday, June 6.

The program will provide an opportunity for students and staff to reflect on the many positive activities and efforts that took place in the District’s schools during the 2018-2019 School Year as part of the “Rachel’s Challenge” positive school culture program. The program, based on the life and writings of Rachel Joy Scott, the first victim of the Columbine High School tragedy, works to equip and inspire individuals to replace acts of violence, bullying, and negativity with acts of respect, kindness and compassion.

Students from Mars Area Centennial School, Mars Area Elementary School and Mars Area Primary Center, joined by representatives of Mars Area High School and Mars Area Middle School’s FOR (Friends of Rachel) Clubs will link together paper chains of kindness that each school has been building throughout the school year. Other activities will include a performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” by Mars Area Centennial School Sixth Grade Band; an Adams Area Fire District demonstration, superhero visits, a deejay, prize drawings, and more.
