Mars Area junior Jake Richardson took fifth place in the 160-pound weight class at the 2018-2019 PIAA Class 3A Boys Varsity Wresting Individual Championships, held March 7-9 at The Giant Center (Hershey, Pa.).
Richardson, a member of Mars Area High School Boys Varsity Wrestling Team, advanced to the state competition after taking second place at the 2018-2019 WPIAL Class 3A Boys Varsity Wresting Individual Championships, held March 1-2 at Canon-McMillan High School (Canonsburg, Pa.).

Four members of Mars Area High School Boys Varsity Wrestling Team competed in the 2018-2019 WPIAL Class 3A Boys Varsity Wresting Individual Championships, held March 1-2 at Canon-McMillan High School (Canonsburg, Pa.).
Junior Jake Richardson took second place in the 160-pound weight class and will advance to the 2018-2019 PIAA Class 3A Boys Varsity Wresting Individual Championships, to be held March 7-9 at The Giant Center (Hershey, Pa.). Other wrestlers who competed in their respective weight classes were senior Noah Hunkele (113), junior Sean McElhinny (170) and sophomore Anthony Maiure (120).

Section 3-3A Boys Varsity Wrestling Individual Qualifier
Several members of Mars Area High School Boys Varsity Wrestling Team placed in the 2018-2019 WPIAL Section 3-3A Boys Varsity Wrestling Individual Qualifier, held Feb. 23 at Fox Chapel Area High School.
Junior Jake Richardson earned first place in the 160-pound weight class; senior Noah Hunkele (113) took second place; and junior Sean McElhinny (170) and sophomore Anthony Maiure (120) received fourth place in their respective weight classes. All four wrestlers will advance to the 2018-2019 WPIAL Class 3A Boys Varsity Wresting Individual Championships, to be held March 1-2 at Canon-McMillan High School (Canonsburg, Pa.)
Other wrestlers who competed at the section qualifier were senior Declan Ryan (138); junior Gerard Zottola (152); sophomores Jordan Marshall (182) and Colin Vanderberghe (145); and freshmen Christian Scheller (132) and Eli Wright (126).
