Two teams of Mars Area High School students competed in the 2019 Western Pennsylvania High School Science Bowl, held Feb. 23, at Community College of Allegheny County — South Campus (West Mifflin, Pa.)

Mars Team #1, made up of juniors Dylan Becker, Zach Leachman (captain), Griffin Miller, Adrian Zugehar, and freshman Audrey Milk, took second place in preliminary round of the Division B competition. Mars Team #2, which included junior Matthew Gourash (captain) and freshmen Audrey Gehm, Timothy Jayamohan, Raghav Kalbhor and Rohan Narasimhan, won two matches in Division A.

The students, who competed against 40 teams from local high schools, were asked questions related to biology, chemistry, earth & space, energy, mathematics and physics.
