Three members of Mars Area High School German Club placed in the 2019 Three Rivers German Day event, held March 7 at Washington & Jefferson College (Washington, Pa.).
In the Drawing category, freshman Audrey Gehm earned first place and sophomore Alexandra Knotts took second place. In the Craft/Modeling category, junior Allison McGee received second place.
German Club members performed a campfire song, “Freunde (Friends).” And, students were given the opportunity to visit the Geothe Institut USA WanderbUS, which offered activities educating visitors about the German language and culture.
The annual competition brings together students from middle schools and high schools in Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Participants compete in the Art, Culture Trivia, Drama, Music, Poetry Recitation, Technology and Writing events.
