Students Inducted into Spanish National Honor Society

Numerous Mars Area High School students were inducted into the Spanish National Honor Society (Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica) Chapter at a special ceremony on March 28.

Students are senior Haylee Fredericks and sophomores Patricio Beltran, Dawson Cadamore, Elizabeth Caldwell, Chloe Ceasar, Angelina Dressel, Alek Johnson, Sarah Kalkowski, Anita Kaul, Owen Kennedy, Cailey Killian, Alexandra King, Kyra Koch, Jared Kolarcik, Nabil Lahlou, Elizabeth Long, Elizabeth Louttit, Emilia Magnani, Anna Martin, Ella Martin, Cara McGuinness, Aria Ramanathan, Alyssa Schulties and Julia Wasielewski.

Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica is an honor society for high school sophomores, juniors and seniors who are enrolled in Spanish. To be eligible for participation, students must have a minimum of 90 percent in each level of Spanish, an average GPA of 3.6; and must commit to complete all four years of the language.

The goal of honor society, which is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP), is to recognize high school achievement in Spanish and Portuguese and to promote interest in Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian studies.
