Students Inducted into German National Honor Society

Several Mars Area High School students were inducted into the school’s German National Honor Society (Delta Epsilon Phi) Chapter on April 18.

Inductees are juniors Logan Anderson, Bradford Astbury and Steven Papik; and sophomores Dane Beller, McKenna Bowes, Kurt Brubach, Ian Buttermore, Anthony DaRe, Grace DiVecchio, Peyton Felicetti, Madeline Gagnon, Trenton Irwin, Alexandra Knotts, Allison Lusk, Caden McKotch, Chloe Milliron, Alexa Moyer, Maya Price, Morgan Raabe, Kara Rocco, Nathan Skomo, Alex Smith, Ashley Ward, Jonathan Wetherholt, Jacob Wooldridge and Caroline Wroblewski.

Delta Epsilon Phi is an honor society specifically for high school students enrolled in German language classes. To be eligible for participation, students must be enrolled in German 3, German 4 or Advanced Placement (AP) German; have a minimum average GPA of 3.6 in German classes and a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale); and no disciplinary record.

Each school year, active members of Delta Epsilon Phi must complete 10 experience or service hours, which may be earned through German Club activities, fundraisers, extra-cultural experiences, tutoring and more. Active members are eligible for state and national awards, scholarships, travel stipends and contests.

The goal of Delta Epsilon Phi (DEP), which is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of German, is to recognize high school achievement in German and to promote interest in the study of the German language and culture. For more information,call (724) 625-1581.
