Mars Area junior Zachary Leachman competed as a member of the USA Triathlon (USAT) “Team USA” at the 2019 Monterrey CAMTRI Triathlon American Championships, held May 3 in Monterrey, Mexico.
Leachman took 26th place overall with a time of 1:01.28 in the Junior Men division, despite being involved in a bicycle crash on the wet race course. He is a three-time USAT Age Group All-American and was one of three male athletes to represent the United States at the event.
He was named to “Team USA” for the Pan-Am Championship race after earning third place at the 2019 Clermont Under 25 EDR Draft Legal Race, held March 1 in Clermont, Fla.; and ninth place overall (fifth place among U.S. participants) at the CAMTRI Junior American Cup, held March 9-10 in Sarasota, Fla.
