Several members of Mars Area High School Varsity Baseball and Softball Teams were named to Western Pennsylvania Big 5/6 Athletic Conference All-Section Teams.

On the baseball team, sophomore Jonathan Wetherholt (infield) and junior Joseph Craska (pitcher) were selected for the All-Section 2-5A First Team; senior Tyler Kowalkowski (infield), senior Matthew Fuller (outfield), and sophomore Theodore Ruffner (catcher) for the Second Team; and senior Shane Fox (pitcher) for an honorable mention. The Fightin’ Planets ended the 2019 season in fourth place in the 2019 WPIAL Class 5A Boys Varsity Baseball Championship.

On the softball team, sophomore Kali Harris (pitcher) was named to the All-Section 2-5A Second Team; and freshman Danielle Bednar received an Honorable Mention. This season, the Lady Planets advanced to the first round of the 2019 WPIAL Girls Varsity Softball Class 5A Championship.
