Mars Area High School will hold its 2019 Homecoming Celebration, Sunday, Sept. 22, through Saturday, Sept. 28.
The theme of this year’s Homecoming celebration is “Into the Jungle.” Spirit Week will begin with the High School’s annual Powder Puff Football Games at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22, at Mars Athletics Complex.
Theme days, held during Homecoming Spirit Week, will include:
- Monday, Sept. 23 — “Mocs, Stocks, Socks & Crocs” Day
- Tuesday, Sept. 24 — “Totally Tourist” Day
- Wednesday, Sept. 25 — “Wacky Wednesday”
- Thursday, Sept. 26 — “College Wear” Day
- Friday, Sept. 27 — “Mars/FOR(Friends of Rachel)” Day
A Homecoming Pep Rally will be held at approximately 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27. And, the 2019 Homecoming Parade will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27, in Downtown Mars, followed by the Fightin’ Planets Homecoming Football Game against the Shaler Area Titans at 7 p.m. at Mars Athletic Complex.
The Homecoming Queen will be crowned at halftime. Queen candidates are Sydney Barshick, Brooke Dean, Sarah Eperesi, Hope Lampenfeld, Olivia Lockette, Alyssa Machi, Julia McCarty and Maddie Mueller.
The week will end with a Homecoming Dance, to be held from 7 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, at Mars Area Centennial School.
The Homecoming King will be crowned during the dance. King candidates are Joseph Craska, Jacob Jedry, Mason Koma, Max Lamm, Connor McChesney, Hayden Silsby, Jathan Snavely and Mitchell Wright
Dance tickets are $30 per student through Friday, Sept. 20, and $35 after that date. Tickets are available for purchase at the Student Council booth at Mars Area High School through Friday, Sept. 27. (Note: Dance attendees must be ages 14-20 and in ninth grade and above.)
Honorary court members are exchange students Valentina Casiraghi, Lia Policardi, Guiliana Velozo and Anton Geier.
