Mars Area High School junior Chloe Milliron was selected for a 2020 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards’ Certificate of Excellence.
The certificate is awarded to the Top 10 percent of applicants to the national program, which honors youth with outstanding volunteer service. Milliron founded and leads Girls Doing Good (https://GirlsDoingGood.org), a group of friends with the common interest of helping others and making a positive impact on our community.
Recently, the group created “Valentines for Veterans” and “Sweets for Seniors” and collected donations to benefit North Hills Community Outreach. Group members also participated in Salvation Army Kettle collections; held a Bake Sale to benefit Make-A-Wish Foundation and a Book/Toy Drive for Play It Forward Pittsburgh; joined in the 2019 Walk For Children’s (Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation); and more.
“(Milliron’s) volunteer activities stood out as an impressive example of what young people can do to improve their communities,” said Charles Lowrey, Prudential Financial chairman and CEO.
