Dear Mars Area School District Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

I hope this message finds you and your family well. Once again, I thank you for your patience and flexibility during these uncertain times. I understand that everyone is anxious about the District's plans, especially those that pertain to end-of-the-school year events and refunds. I will address those issues below and hopefully help ease some of the anxiety many families are having at this time.

Graduation:  Seniors, who meet all requirements for graduation, will officially be classified as Mars Area High School graduates on June 12, 2020. The high school will celebrate this with a virtual graduation ceremony on the original date and time. More information regarding the virtual graduation will be forthcoming, along with a plan for cap and gown distribution. Mars Area School District would prefer to have a live, in-person ceremony. If possible, the ceremony would be held during the last week of July, potentially July 30, 2020. This, however, will depend completely on local and federal government directives.

Prom: The 2020 Mars Area High School Senior Prom has been moved to July 28, 2020 (if permitted). The prom will be held at the high school or at a local venue. The event will be proceeded in traditional fashion by a Prom Walk, at the high school auditorium. If we are unable to hold this event at that time because of local and federal government directives, we will consider finding a way to celebrate with the Class of 2020 sometime next fall.

Fee Refunds:

• • • Parking Fees - Seniors will be reimbursed for the fourth quarter. Juniors will have the fourth quarter parking fee credited towards their parking fee for the 2020-2021 School Year. Please note that refunds will be coming from the Administration Office and will take time to process.
      
      
    • Course Fees - All course fees are being reviewed at this time. More information will be coming.
      
      
    • Athletic Fees - Spring athletic fees will be reimbursed in full ($100) by the Athletic Department. If you paid by check and your check has not yet been cashed, it will be voided and shredded. The Athletic Department will provide instructions for uniform collection once the current stay-at-home order is lifted. Please note refunds will take time to process.​

Please remember that the administration, faculty and staff of Mars Area School District consider it to be their personal responsibility to make a positive impact on all of our students.  We will do everything in our power to celebrate the accomplishments of our Senior Class.
