As we prepare for the start of the 2020-2021 School Year, I ask that you please take note of the following back-to-school information and announcements:
Orientation Event Cancelled
In order to comply with current social distancing guidelines, Mars Area High School must cancel its Ninth Grade & New Student Orientation, which was scheduled on Monday, August 24. Instead, we are offering a visitation day on Wednesday, Aug. 19.
Note: A virtual orientation video will be distributed to all incoming students and a traditional orientation program for all students will be offered on the morning of the first day of school.
Student Schedules
Tentatively, Mars Area High School expects to post all student schedules to Skyward by 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 18.
Open Building Visitation Day
The High School will offer an Open Building Visitation Day for all incoming ninth-graders and any new students from 9 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 19. Those planning to attend must reserve a visitation arrival time online at MAHS Visitation Sign-Ups, using the student’s first and last name. Times are available on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Please note that the following Social Distancing Guidelines:
-
- All parents/guardians must sign-up for an arrival time by using the above link. Scheduling your visit will help us manage and maintain social distancing guidelines. Sign-up with the students first and last name.
- Only one parent/guardian may accompany each Mars Area High School student in the building. Reducing the number of visitors will help us safely manage social distancing while students get oriented to the building.
- All students, parents/guardians and staff must wear face coverings (masks or shields) while in the building.
- To the maximum extent possible, use six-foot distancing from others while moving throughout the building.
- Do not attend this event if you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. We will schedule another day and time to accommodate another visitation for you before school starts.
1:1 Device Pick-up
Additionally this year, Mars Area High School will offer ninth-graders ONLY a chance to pick up their District-issued device on Wednesday, Aug. 19, during the Open Building Visitation Day. Any ninth-graders, who would like to get your device on that day, are asked to read and complete all required forms that are attached to the letter below and to bring those forms, along with the $100 Technology Fee payment, with you at your scheduled visitation time. The High School will offer additional pick-up times during the week of Aug. 24 for all other grades and any ninth-graders who are unable to attend the Open Building Visitation Day. More information and sign-ups for those days will be sent out next week.

Vo-Tech
At this time, Butler County Area Vocational-Technical School (BCVTS) plans to offer five (5) days of in-person instruction for all students. The vo-tech also has different options in place for those students who opt for distance learning. Please refer to the vo-tech's website, www.butlertec.us or contact the vo-tech's administration with any specific questions. Busing to BCVTS will be provided to and from Mars Area High School as has been provided in previous years. The vo-tech will be opening more parking spots for any students who wish to drive and for parent drop-off/pick-up as well. Please notify me at [email protected] if you plan on driving or riding the bus to Vo-Tech by Thursday, Aug. 20. You are not locked into this decision, but we are trying to plan accordingly.
Thank you for your patience and support during these difficult and unprecedented times. As always, please reach out with any questions or concerns you may have. I hope that you and your family are staying healthy and are enjoying your last few weeks of summer!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Lindsay Rosswog, Principal
Mars Area High School
