Boys Golf Team Ends 2020 Season
Mars Area High School Boys Varsity Golf Team ended the regular season with an overall record of 5-8 and 5-7 in Section 3-3A.
This season, sophomore Blake Bertolo tied for 26th place with a score of 77 at the 2020 PIAA Class 3A Boys Varsity Golf Individual Championships, held Oct. 20 at Heritage Hills Golf Course (York, Pa.). Bertolo tied for seventh place in the 2020 WPIAL Class 3A Boys Varsity Golf Individual Championship Finals; 15th place in the WPIAL Semifinals; and first place at the Section 3-3A qualifier.
Sophomore Ryan Steigerwald took 23rd place in the WPIAL Individual Semifinal and sixth place the section qualifier. Also competing in section qualifier were seniors Jared Kolarcik-Schmitt and Caleb Raydo and juniors Lucas Kuremsky and Max Weaver.
Other golfers on this year’s team included seniors Nick Crowley, Connor Kasten and Jonathan Wetherholt; and juniors Carter Getsy, Ryan Mitchell, Wesley Scurci, Max Solich, James Bromley, Raghav Kalbhor and Jack Weiss.

PIAA Class 3A Boys Varsity Golf Individual Championships
Mars Area High School sophomore Blake Bertolo tied for 26th place with a score of 77 at the 2020 PIAA Class 3A Boys Varsity Golf Individual Championships, held Oct. 20 at Heritage Hills Golf Course (York, Pa.).
Bertolo, a member of Mars Area High School Boys Varsity Golf Team, advanced to the state championship after tying for seventh place (76) at the 2020 WPIAL Class 3A Boys Varsity Golf Individual Championship Finals on Oct. 6. Bertolo also took 15th place in the WPIAL Semifinals on Sept. 28; and first place at the Section 3-3A qualifier on Sept. 21.

This season, senior Victoria Witouski took 18th place with a score of 97 and junior Allison Rice received 35th place (136) at the 2020 WPIAL Class 3A Girls Individual Golf Championship. Witouski and Rice advanced to the championship round after placing fourth and sixth, respectively, in the WPIAL Individual Qualifier.
Other golfers on this year’s team include seniors Jessica Compton, Alaina Metal and Ella Southwell; juniors Isabella Pellegrino, Rachel Shay and Danielle Sticinski; and sophomores Madison Chioda, Emily Cronin, Maggie Garr, Sophia Maestra, Kirsten Maybach and Shannon Sticinski; and, freshmen Madilynn DeNomme and Allison Yanief.

Two members of Mars Area High School Girls Varsity Golf Team competed in the 2020 WPIAL Class 3A Girls Individual Golf Championship, held Oct. 8 at Oakmont Country Club.

Two members of Mars Area High School Boys Varsity Golf Team placed in the 2020 Section 3-3A Boys Varsity Golf Individual Qualifier, held Sept. 21 at North Park Golf Course.
Sophomore Blake Bertolo earned first place with a score of 74; and, sophomore Ryan Steigerwald tied for sixth place (80). The target score was 80. Both will advance to the WPIAL Individual Semifinals, to be held on Tuesday, Sept. 29.
Other golfers who competed at the qualifier included senior Caleb Raydo, who took 25th place (89); junior Lucas Kuremsky, received 29th place (90); senior Jared Kolarcik-Schmitt, tied for 31st place (91); and junior Max Weaver, tied for 31st place (91).
