High School Seeking Parents' Support with LSI Instruction

As Mars Area High School has temporarily switched to full Live Stream Interactive (LSI) Instruction for our students, the high school has experienced an increase in student misbehavior online.

Therefore, the school is asking that parents/guardians assist in supervising students, while they are working from home. Our staff has worked very hard to provide a continuous instruction experience for our students by live streaming each period from their own homes. However, that education and instruction is now being interrupted frequently by other students behavior. If you or your student, have information regarding any of the misbehavior that is occurring, please contact Mrs. Lindsay Rosswog, principal, directly at (724) 625-1581 or [email protected]. The names of anyone reporting such behavior will be kept strictly confidential.

Mars Area School District's Technology Department is investigating several of these behavioral issues and will be increasing security and monitoring on all District-issued devices. Please note that these changes may affect some students' ability to access individual classes or assignments online. Any students experiencing problems or with questions are encouraged to reach out to their classroom teacher(s).

We want to be sure to enforce the terms of the Planet Pact that each student signed. As a reminder, the Planet Pact states that "under no circumstances is a student permitted to disrupt live-streamed and/or classroom instruction with inappropriate and/or unlawful behavior. Any student who exhibits inappropriate behavior will face disciplinary measures, up to and including expulsion, in accordance with District Policy 218 Student Discipline. Any act that is determined to be unlawful will be referred to law enforcement for criminal prosecution." To review the Planet Pact, click on the following link:

We understand that parents/guardians may not be able to monitor your child(ren) at all times during the school day; however, whenever possible, we ask that you check in with your child(ren) to be sure that they are participating appropriately. No student should be swearing, playing loud or inappropriate music, logging into courses in which they are not enrolled; or sharing a links with students who are not enrolled in a course. In addition, all students are reminded that they are to be dressed appropriately at all times, especially when on camera.

I would truly appreciate your cooperation and support for our staff as they are working hard to provide this opportunity for your students to continue their education during this and any future school closure.
