So far this season, Carmody, who is in his 23rd year as coach, has led the Fightin’ Planets to the top of the WPIAL standings with an overall record of 6-1 and 5-1 in Section 4-5A play.
The team ended the 2019-2020 season in the first round of the PIAA Class 5A Boys Basketball Championships, after taking second place in the WPIAL playoffs and earning its eighth consecutive section title
In 2019-2020, Carmody was named Section 3-5A Coach of the Year. He was also previously selected as the 2017-2018 Butler Eagle and Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Boys Basketball Coach of the Year and the 2015-2016 Pennsylvania Sports Writers’ Coach of the Year.
