Several Mars Area High School students were selected to receive 2021 Pittsburgh Arts Region Scholastic Art Awards.
Gold Keys were awarded to senior Aspen Wilson for her drawing, “Me,” and junior Amelia Vinson for her painting, “1415 1st Ave.”
Silver Keys went to senior Kendall Ceh for her paintings, “Giraffes Can’t Dance” and “What’s for Lunch;” senior Aspen Wilson for her drawing, “Escaping the Fires;” senior Leah Yendell for her drawing, “Breakfast by the Bay;” and, sophomore Athena DePaoli for her digital drawing, “Harmony.”
Honorable Mentions were awarded to senior Kendall Ceh for her paintings, “Lit” and “What’s for Lunch;” senior Isabel Mannella for her painting, “The Boy, The Elephant and The Dog;” senior Aspen Wilson for her comic art, “Missy and Mouse’s Magical Mission” and her painting, “Longwei and His Toilet Paper;” senior Leah Yendell for her paintings, “Like Mother, Like Daughter” and “Strolling;” junior Audrey Gehm for her drawing, “Blue Lady;” junior Amelia Vinson for her painting, “Crushed;” and, freshman Vivian Frank for her painting, “Danger.”
Given current social distancing guidelines social distancing and gathering restrictions, the annual Pittsburgh Arts Region Scholastic Art Exhibit will not be held this school year. However, students will be honored during a Virtual Awards Ceremony, presented by The Alliance for Young Artists & Writers and broadcast live on YouTube Premiere on Thursday, March 4.
