Several members of Mars Area High School Boys & Girls Varsity Swimming & Diving Team competed in the 2021 WPIAL Swimming Championships, held March 6-7 at Upper St. Clair High School.
The girls team placed 11th overall in 3A competition with a score of 70 points. The boys team took 10th place overall in 2A competition with 82 points.
On the boys team, senior Aidan Wolf earned seventh place with a time of 4:57.73 in the 500-Yard Freestyle and ninth place (1:49.08) in the 200-Yard Freestyle. Junior Nathan Silsby took 12th place (23.25) and sophomore Leo Saver received 15th place (23.68) in the 50-Yard Freestyle.
The team of senior Aidan Wolf, juniors Kevin Butler and Nathan Silsby, and sophomore Leo Saver earned seventh place (1:34.19) in the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay. The team of senior Aidan Wolf, juniors Jacob Harsch and Nathan Silsby, and sophomore Leo Saver received ninth place (3:28.74) in the 400-Yard Freestyle Relay.
On the girls team, senior Megan Smith earned fifth place (1:06.06) in the 100-Yard Breaststroke and sixth place (2:07.83) in the 200-Yard IM. Sophomore Riley Connelly received 14th place (25.29) in the 50-Yard Freestyle and 14th place (1:00.57) in the 100-Yard Backstroke.
The team of seniors Abigail Scott and Megan Smith and sophomores Riley Connelly and Natalie Stasioski took eighth place (1:51.97) in the 200-Yard Medley Relay.

2021 WPIAL Diving Championships
Three members of Mars Area High School Boys and Girls Varsity Swimming & Diving Teams placed in the 2021 WPIAL Diving Championships, held Feb. 26 at North Allegheny Senior High School.
Junior Kevin Butler earned seventh place with a score of 285.75 in the final round of the WPIAL Class 2A Boys Varsity Diving Championships. Freshman Emily Mueller took eighth place (348.60) and junior Kirsten Maybach received 13th place (332.10) in the preliminary round of the WPIAL Class 3A Girls Varsity Diving Championships.
