Mars Area High School Boys Varsity Tennis Team advanced to the first round of the 2021 WPIAL Class 2A Boys Varsity Team Tennis Championships on May 5, but was defeated 4-1 by the Thomas Jefferson Jaguars.

The Fightin’ Planets ended the 2021 regular season with a 6-2 record in Section 2-2A. The team moved from Class 3A to Section 2-2A competition this season.

Of note, the doubles teams of senior Patrick Clark and junior Max Solich and junior Timothy Jayamohan and sophomore Adam Bechtold both advanced to the quarterfinal round of the 2021 Section 2-2A Boys Varsity Tennis Doubles Tournament. Junior Timothy Jayamohan and sophomore Adam Bechtold both advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2021 Section 2-2A Boys Varsity Tennis Singles Championships.

Other players on this year’s team included seniors Anthony Bruno, Ian Buttermore and Nathan Skomo; junior Bruce Watson; freshman Rohan Cherlakola, Nameer Dheen, Jackson Gillespie, Mitchell Kulfan, Bryant Lee and Graeme Wolf.
