JROTC Teams Place in Drill Competition

Several members of the Pine-Richland/Mars Area U.S. Air Force JROTC Drill Teams competed in the Parkersburg South JROTC (Junior Reserve Officers Training Corp) Drill Competition, held April 24 at Parkersburg South High School (W.Va.)

Participating Mars Area High School students included senior Abigail King; sophomore Danielle Snyman; and, freshman Tyler Brown, Trenton Farley, Nathaniel Huerbin, Reva Kalbhor and Alanna Shaw.

The JROTC Drill Team, as a whole, earned first place overall; and, the Varsity Unarmed, JV Unarmed, and JV Armed drill teams, along with the Uniform Inspection Teams, each earned first place in their respective competitions. The Varsity Armed Drill Team took second place and the JV Color Guard received third place.

“(The) drill team cadets had a tremendous showing at our only in-person drill meet for this school year,” says Chief Master Sgt. Mike Gasparetto, JROTC instructor. “They dedicated their time to practice and committed to put forth the effort to be successful.”
