Mars Area High School Senior Ellie Coffield is a state finalist in the USA Today High School Sports Awards.
Coffield is a midfielder A on the Mars Area High School Girls Varsity Soccer Team, which won both the 2020 PIAA and WPIAL Class 3A Championship titles as well as the Section 4-3A title. She finished the 2020 season with 26 goals and 36 assists, and with a career total of 95 goals and 104 assists.
She was named the 2020 Pennsylvania Soccer Coaches Association (PSCA) Girls Soccer Player of the Year, Butler Eagle, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, and Trib HSSN (High School Sports Network) Girls Soccer Player of the Year. In addition, Coffield was selected for the 2020 All-State, All-WPIAL and All-Section (4-3A) teams.
In 2019-2020, Coffield was selected as the Gatorade Pennsylvania Girls Soccer Player of the Year, Cover Three Athletics WPIAL Female Athlete of the Year, and received the 2019 ‘Moe’ Rosensteel Most Outstanding Player Award.
Coffield has signed a letter of intent to join the Panthers Women’s Soccer Team at the University of Pittsburgh, where she plans to major in nutrition science.
