Mars Area High School seniors Zach Schelegel and Eliza Matusek were crowned as the school’s 2021 Homecoming King and Queen.
Other Homecoming Court members were queen candidates, Isabella Cinalli, Maddie Lee, Madison Moan, Kaitlyn Pelaia, Gillian Porter, Karina Quinn and Kalin Wilson; and king candidates, Zaccheri Campagna, Jacob Caringola, Johnny Fratto, Skylor Lindsey, Aidan Moffa, Trey Wagner and Eli Wright. Honorary court members were foreign exchange students Hannah Freiburghaus (Switzerland), Lucas Jeromin (Germany), and Praise Kingchongcharoensuk (Thailand).
Mars Area High School celebrated Homecoming, Sept. 27-Oct. 2, with students participating in Spirit Week theme days and other activities to earned points. This year, the junior class earned the most points and was awarded the school’s coveted Spirit Stick.
The annual Homecoming Parade traversed through Downtown Mars on Oct. 1, followed by the Fightin’ Planets Football Game against the Armstrong River Hawks. Matusek was crowned at halftime of the Homecoming Football Game.
On Oct. 2, high school students attended the 2021 Homecoming Dance, themed “Let’s GLOW Crazy,” at Mars Athletic Complex. Schlegel was named at the dance.
