Mars Area High School graduate Sarah Weis (Class of 2021) will perform as a member of the HT High Flyers jump rope team in the 95th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday, Nov. 25, in New York City.
Weis and the HT Flyers Team will perform as part of the national J.U.M.P. (Jumpers United for Macy’s Parade) group, organized by Heartbeats Jump Rope Team (Cleveland, Ohio).
The athletes will jump continuously along the 2.8-mile parade route and, upon arriving in Herald Square, will be featured in a one-minute segment broadcast live on NBC.
The jump-ropers will perform a complex interconnected Double Dutch matrix, flanked by a single-rope routine. The group, comprised of both male and female athletes, ages 12-26, will also perform choreographed jump rope gymnastics and dance routines.
Weis, a former member of Mars Area School District’s Mars Stars Jump Rope Team, is a freshman at Kent State University, majoring in Accounting and minoring in Criminology & Justice Studies.
