Mars Area High School graduate Sydney Miller (Class of 2018) has completed her French Capstone Project at Seton Hill University.
Students enrolled in the Seton Hill Honors Program must complete a capstone requirement through a self-designed project or travel, which must be documented and include a comprehensive project paper and portfolio. Upon completion of the project, the student must complete a formal public presentation of his/her capstone experience.
Miller’s project chronicles her journey to master the French language through classes at the Seton Hill University and the University of Pittsburgh; her introductory teaching experience at Jeannette Junior/Senior High School and within Greensburgh-Salem School District; and her research into traditional and modern methods employed to teach French both in the United States and abroad.
“(Miller) started taking French in ninth grade at Mars and has gone on to accomplish some great things,” says Stephanie Glessner, Mars Area High School French teacher.
Since here freshman year, Miller has served as president of Seton Hill University’s French Club, participating in “Club Fairs” and an annual MISO (International) Dinner dinners). In Spring 2022, Miller plans to begin student teaching in French.
