Several members of Mars Area High School Band were selected by solo audition for the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District 5 Honors Band Festival, to be held Dec. 16-18 at Westminster College.

Students are senior Evan Rojas (2nd Chair Tenor Saxophone); juniors Ethan Musler (2nd Chair Tuba), Andrew Nelson (1st Chair Bassoon) and Madelyn Ostapchenko (11th Chair Flute); and, sophomores Meghan Smith (9th Chair Clarinet) and Alex Schumann (4th Chair French Horn).

Dr. Adam F. Brenna, Mansfield University director of bands and professor of percussion studies, will serve as guest conductor.

The event will conclude with a public concert at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 18, at Westminster College’s Orr Auditorium. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased at the door.
