Several members of Mars Area High School Band were selected by solo audition for the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District Jazz Band Festival, to be held Feb. 18-19 at Slippery Rock University.

Students are senior Evan Rojas (Tenor Saxophone); junior Ian Fuechslin (2nd Chair Oboe); and, sophomore Reva Kalbhor (String Bass).

Clint Bleil, Washington & Jefferson College visiting assistant music professor, jazz composer and saxophonist; Dr. David Glover, Slippery Rock University Assistant Professor of Percussion; and Dr. Leigh Pilzer, University of Maryland music professor and saxophonist, will serve as guest conductors.

The event will conclude with a public concert at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19, at Slippery Rock University’s Miller Auditorium. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased at the door.
