Emily Mueller and Preston HeynesTwo members of Mars Area High School Girls Varsity Swimming & Diving Teams competed in the 2024 PIAA Swimming & Diving Championships, held March 13-16 at Bucknell University’s Kinney Natatorium.

Senior Emily Mueller earned sixth place with a score of 384.10 in the Class 3A One-Meter Diving event. Sophomore Preston Heynes took 26th place with a time of 1.51.23 in the preliminary round of the Class 2A 200-Yard Freestyle.

2024 WPIAL Swimming Championships

Several members of Mars Area High School Boys & Girls Varsity Swimming & Diving Team competed in the 2024 WPIAL Swimming Championships, held Feb. 29-March 1 at the University of Pittsburgh.

The girls team placed 14th overall in Class 3A competition with 48 points. The boys team took 17th place overall in Class 2A competition with 33.5 points.

On the girls team, junior Reagan Connelly took 12th place (54.75) in the 100-Yard Freestyle and 16th place (1:01.15) in the 100-Yard Backstroke. Senior Bryn Wilson received 23rd place (2:01.78) in the 200-Yard Freestyle and 13th place (1.00.34) in the 100-Yard Butterfly.

Junior Sarah Maloney received 25th place (25.89) in the 50-Yard Freestyle. The relay team of senior Bryn Wilson and juniors Reagan Connelly, Sarah Maloney and Victoria Symchak took 14th place (1:43.63) in the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay and 14th place (3:45.23) in the 400-Yard Freestyle Relay.

On the boys team, sophomore Preston Heynes tied for 11th place (1:49.75) in the 200-Yard Freestyle. Junior Sean Muchnok took 12th place (1:03.37) and senior Peyton Randall received 23rd place (1:08.63) in the 100-Yard Breaststroke.

Sophomore Preston Heynes took 16th place (50.03) and junior Alex Harrison received 38th place (53.28) in the 100-Yard Freestyle. Freshman Connor Lui received 27th place (2:14.77) in the 200-Yard IM.

The relay team of senior Peyton Randall, juniors Alex Harrison and Sean Muchnok, and freshman Connor Lui took 13th place (1:48.92) in the 200-Yard Medley Relay. The relay team of juniors Sean Muchnok and Alex Harrison, sophomore Preston Heynes, and freshman Gavin Best took 13th place (1:34.64) in the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay and 13th place (3:30.99) in the 400-Yard Freestyle Relay.

2024 WPIAL Class 3A Diving Championships

Two members of Mars Area High School Girls Varsity Swimming & Diving Teams placed in the 2024 WPIAL Class 3A Diving Championships, held Feb. 24 at North Allegheny Senior High School.

Senior Emily Mueller earned fourth place with a combined score of 390.55; and junior Mya Lee took eighth place (359.20). Mueller will advance to compete in the 2024 WPIAL Class 3A Swimming & Diving Championships, to be held March 13-16 at Bucknell University.

2024 MAC Swimming & Diving Championship

Several members of Mars Area High School Varsity Swimming & Diving Team competed in the 2024 MAC Swimming & Diving Championship, held Feb. 15-16 at Moon Area High School.

The girls team took fourth place overall and the boys received sixth place.

On the girls team, senior Emily Mueller earned second place with a combined score of 382.90, and junior Mya Lee took sixth place (346.80) in the One-Meter Diving event.

Junior Reagan Connelly took second place and junior Victoria Symchak received seventh place in the 50-Yard Freestyle. Junior Reagan Connelly earned first place in the 100-Yard Backstroke; junior Victoria Symchak took eighth place in the 100-Yard Breaststroke; and, junior Sarah Maloney received seventh place in both the 100-Yard Freestyle and 200-Yard Individual Medley (IM).

Senior Bryn Wilson earned second place in the 200-Yard Freestyle and third place in the 100-Yard Butterfly. In addition, the girls relay teams took second place in the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay and third place in the 200-Yard Medley Relay.

On the boys team, sophomore Preston Heynes took fourth place in the 200-Yard Freestyle and sixth place in the 100-Yard Freestyle. Senior Peyton Randall received seventh place in the 500-Yard Freestyle.

Junior Sean Muchnok received eighth place in both the 100-Yard Breaststroke and the 200-Yard IM. The boys relay teams took fourth place in the 400-Yard Freestyle Relay, fifth place in the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay and sixth place in the 200-Yard Medley Relay.

2022-2023 

2023 WPIAL Swimming Championships

Several members of Mars Area High School Boys & Girls Varsity Swimming & Diving Team competed in the 2023 WPIAL Swimming Championships, held March 2-3 at the University of Pittsburgh.

The girls team placed 13th overall in Class 3A competition with 47 points. The boys team took 33rd place overall in Class 2A competition with 1 point.

On the boys team, freshman Preston Heynes took 21st place with a time of 5:20.20 in the 500-Yard Freestyle and 24th place (1:57.42) in the 200-Yard Freestyle. Sophomore Sean Muchnok received 16th place (1:02.66) in the 100-Yard Breaststroke and 21st place (2:12.59) in the 200-Yard IM.

The relay team of junior Peyton Randall, sophomores Alexander Harrison and Sean Muchnok, and freshman Preston Heynes received 20th place (1:51.66) in the 200-Yard Medley Relay and 20th place (3:38.18) in the 400-Yard Freestyle Relay.

On the girls team, sophomore Reagan Connelly took 12th place (54.61) in the 100-Yard Freestyle and 15th place (25.29) in the 50-Yard Freestyle. Senior Riley Connelly received 15th place (2:16.67) in the 200-Yard IM and 20th place (1:02.19) in the 100-Yard Backstroke. Junior Bryn Wilson took 29th place (2:04.58) in the 200-Yard Freestyle.

The relay team of senior Riley Connelly, junior Bryn Wilson and sophomores Reagan Connelly and Sarah Maloney, received 10th place (1:42.33) in the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay. The relay team of senior Riley Connelly and sophomores Reagan Connelly, Sarah Maloney and Victoria Symchak, received 12th place (1:55.47) in the 200-Yard Medley Relay.

2023 WPIAL Class 3A Diving Championships

Mya Lee and Emily MuellerTwo members of Mars Area High School Girls Varsity Swimming & Diving Teams placed in the 2023 WPIAL Class 3A Diving Championships, held Feb. 25 at North Allegheny Senior High School.

Junior Emily Mueller earned fifth place with a final score of 421.40; and sophomore Mya Lee received 23rd place (158.40). Each divers overall score is a combined from six (6) dives.

2023 MAC Varsity Swimming & Diving Championships

Several members of Mars Area High School Boys & Girls Varsity Swimming & Diving Team competed in the 2023 MAC Varsity Swimming & Diving Championships, held Feb. 3-4 at West Allegheny High School.

The girls team earned fourth place overall with a score of 241 and the boys team took eighth place (126).

On the girls team, senior Riley Connelly earned first place (1:02.11) in the 100-Yard Backstroke. Sophomore Reagan Connelly took first place (25.48); sophomore Sarah Maloney, ninth place (26.78); and sophomore Adeline Rocco, 20th place (28.75), in the 50-Yard Freestyle.

Sophomore Reagan Connelly took second place (55.39); sophomore Sarah Maloney, 12th place (59.56); and sophomore Victoria Symchak, 13th place (59.51), in the 100-Yard Freestyle. Senior Riley Connelly earned third place (2:29.59) in the 200-Yard IM.

Sophomore Victoria Symchak received fifth place (1:17.35) in the 100-Yard Breaststroke. Junior Bryn Wilson took fifth place (1:04.65) in the 100-Yard Butterfly and fifth place (2:06.58) in the 200-Yard Freestyle.

Sophomore Mya Lee took seventh place with a score of 183.35 in One-Meter Diving. In addition, relay teams took second place (1:43.48) in the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay, third place (1:57.95) in the 200-Yard Medley Relay, and fourth place (4:17.55) in the 400-Yard Freestyle Relay.

On the boys team, sophomore Sean Muchnok earned first place (1:04.02) and junior Peyton Randall, ninth place (1:11.54) in the 100-Yard Breaststroke. Freshman Preston Heynes received fifth place (1:57.45) in the 200-Yard Freestyle.

Freshman Preston Heynes took fifth place (5:23.53) and junior Peyton Randall, 12th place (5:48.61) in the 500-Yard Freestyle. Sophomore Sean Muchnok received seventh place (2:17.00) in the 200-Yard IM.

Sophomore Alexander Harrison received 21st place (56.76) in the 100-Yard Freestyle. In addition, relay teams took sixth place (1:51.61) in the 200-Yard Medley Relay and sixth place (3:43.17) in the 400-Yard Freestyle Relay.

2022 PIAA Swimming & Diving Championships

Several members of Mars Area High School Boys Varsity Swimming & Diving Team competed in the 2022 PIAA Swimming & Diving Championships, held March 15-19 at the Bucknell University.

Senior Kevin Butler took 15th place with a score of 280.75 in One-Meter Diving. The relay team of seniors Kevin Butler, Jacob Harsch and Nathan Silsby, and junior Leo Saver earned 15th place with a time of 1:31.51 in the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay.

Senior Nathan Silsby received 21st place (22.55) in the preliminary round of the 50-Yard Freestyle; and, freshman Sean Muchnok took 32nd place (1:06.53) in the preliminary round of the 100-Yard Breaststroke. The relay team of seniors Kevin Butler, Jacob Harsch and Nathan Silsby, and junior Leo Saver received 18th place (3:28.16) in the preliminary round of the 400-Yard Freestyle Relay.

Swimmers, Divers Qualify for PIAA Championships

Several members of Mars Area High School Boys & Girls Varsity Swimming & Diving Team have qualified for the 2022 PIAA Swimming & Diving Championships, to be held March 15-19 at Bucknell University's Kinney Natatorium.

Seniors Kevin Butler and Kellen Fletcher will compete in the PIAA Diving Championships. Senior Nathan Silsby will compete in the 50-Yard Freestyle and freshman Sean Muchnok in the 100-Yard Breaststroke.

The relay team of seniors Kevin Butler, Jacob Harsch, Lucas Kuremsky and Nathan Silsby, and junior Leo Saver will compete in the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay and 400-Yard Freestyle Relay.

2022 WPIAL Swimming Championships

Several members of Mars Area High School Boys & Girls Varsity Swimming & Diving Team competed in the 2022 WPIAL Swimming Championships, held March 3-4 at the University of Pittsburgh.

The boys team placed ninth overall in Class 2A competition with a score of 111 points. The girls team took 15th place overall in Class 3A competition with 43 points.

On the boys team, senior Nathan Silsby earned fifth place with a time of 22.65 , and junior Leo Saver took 11th place (23.45) in the 50-Yard Freestyle. Freshman Sean Muchnok received ninth place (1:03.23) in the 100-Yard Breaststroke.

Senior Jacob Harsch took 12th place (56.33) in the 100-Yard Butterfly. Senior Jacob Harsch received 12th place (50.93); senior Nathan Silsby, 14th place (51.02); and junior Leo Saver, 23rd place (53.36) in the 100-Yard Freestyle.

The relay team of seniors Kevin Butler, Jacob Harsch and Nathan Silsby, and junior Leo Saver earned fifth place (1:32.10) in the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay. The relay team of seniors Kevin Butler, Jacob Harsch and Nathan Silsby, and junior Leo Saver received 11th place (3:28.64) in the 400-Yard Freestyle Relay.

The relay team of senior Kevin Butler, junior Matthew Gnandt, sophomore Peyton Randall and freshman Sean Muchnok received 19th place (1:55.59) in the 200-Yard Medley Relay.

On the girls team, junior Riley Connelly took ninth place (24.71) and freshman Reagan Connelly received 16th place (25.06) in the 50-Yard Freestyle. Junior Riley Connelly received 15th place (100.47) in the 100-Yard Backstroke.

Freshman Reagan Connelly received 17th place (5:24.96) in the 500-Yard Freestyle. Senior Sarah Hooper took 19th (1:11.32) in the 100-Yard Breaststroke. Sophomore Bryn Wilson received 31st place (2:04.57) in the 200-Yard Freestyle.

The relay team of senior Sarah Hooper, junior Riley Connelly, sophomore Bryn Wilson, and freshman Reagan Connelly received 11th place (1:52.81) in the 200-Yard Medley Relay. The relay team of senior Sarah Hooper, junior Riley Connelly, and freshmen Reagan Connelly and Sarah Maloney took 12th place (1:41.50) in the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay.

The relay team of seniors Sarah Hooper and Isabella Pellegrino, sophomore Bryn Wilson, and freshman Sarah Maloney receive 21st place (3:53.10) in the 400-Yard Freestyle Relay.

2022 WPIAL Diving Championships

Three members of Mars Area High School Boys and Girls Varsity Swimming & Diving Teams placed in the 2022 WPIAL Diving Championships, held Feb. 25-26 at North Allegheny Senior High School.

In Class 3A competition, senior Kellen Fletcher earned fourth place with a score of 304.90 and senior Kevin Butler took fifth place (292.90), both qualifying for the 2022 PIAA Swimming & Diving Championships, to be held March 15-19 at Bucknell University’s Kinney Natatorium. In Class 2A competition, senior Kirsten Maybach received ninth place (341.15).

2022 MAC Varsity Swimming & Diving Championships

Several members of Mars Area High School Boys & Girls Varsity Swimming & Diving Team competed in the 2022 MAC Varsity Swimming & Diving Championships, held Feb. 4-5 at West Allegheny High School.

The girls team placed third overall with a score of 288 and the boys team took fourth place (218).

On the girls team, junior Riley Connelly earned first place with a score of 1:01.26; senior Isabella Pellegrino took ninth place (1:08.48); senior Sophie Huff, 19th place (1:17.01); and junior Shannon Sticinski, 26th place in the 100-Meter Backstroke. Junior Riley Connelly earned first place (2:13.65); freshman Sarah Maloney, ninth place (2:30.05); and sophomore Emma Raible, 16th place (2:46.72), in the 200-Meter Individual Medley (IM).

Freshman Reagan Connelly earned second place (2:02.71); sophomore Bryn Wilson, seventh place (2:06.66); and senior Eliza Matusek, 12th place (2:17.35), in the 200-Meter Freestyle. Freshman Reagan Connelly earned second place (5:28.60) and senior Eliza Matusek took sixth place (6:12.60) in the 500-Meter Freestyle.

Senior Sarah Hooper took fourth place (26.15); freshman Victoria Symchak, 12th place (27.36); and senior Sophie Huff, 26th place (29.59), in the 50-Meter Freestyle. Sophomore Bryn Wilson took fourth place (1:04.96); freshman Sarah Maloney, eighth place (1:08.97); and sophomore Emma Raible, 15th place (1:15.56), in the 100-Meter Butterfly.

Senior Sarah Hooper took fourth place (1:13.55) in the 100-Meter Breaststroke. Senior Isabella Pellegrino took 16th place (1:01.51) and freshman Victoria Symchak received 18th place (1:02.92) in the 100-Meter Freestyle.

The relay team of senior Sarah Hooper, junior Riley Connelly, sophomore Bryn Wilson and freshman Reagan Connelly earned second place (1:54.90) in the 200-Meter Medley Relay. The relay team of senior Sarah Hooper, junior Riley Connelly, and freshmen Reagan Connelly and Sarah Maloney, took second place (1:54.90) in the 200-Meter Freestyle Relay.

The relay team of senior Isabella Pellegrino, sophomore Bryn Wilson, and freshmen Sarah Maloney and Victoria Symchak received fourth place (4:04.73) in the 400-Meter Freestyle Relay.

On the boys team, senior Jacob Harsch earned third place (56.92) in the 100-Meter Butterfly. Senior Nathan Silsby earned third place (51.00); senior Jacob Harsch, fourth place (51.11); junior Leo Saver, 11th place (53.47); and senior Lucas Kuremsky, 25th place (59.07), in the 100-Meter Freestyle.

Senior Nathan Silsby earned third place (22.94); senior Kevin Butler, seventh place (24.36); senior Lucas Kuremsky, 16th place (25.39); and junior Matthew Gnandt, 32nd place (27.42), in the 50-Meter Freestyle. Freshman Sean Muchnok earned fourth place (1:08.14) and sophomore Peyton Randall took sixth place (1:15.73) in the 100-Meter Breaststroke.

Freshman Sean Muchnok took ninth place (2:23.39) in the 200-Meter Individual Medley (IM). Junior Leo Saver took ninth place (1:06.34) in the 100-Meter Backstroke. Sophomore Peyton Randall received 14th place (6:15.00) in the 500-Meter Freestyle.

The relay team of senior Kevin Butler, Jacob Harsch and Nathan Silsby and junior Leo Saver earned third place (1:54.90) in the 200-Meter Freestyle Relay. The relay team of senior Jacob Harsch and Nathan Silsby, junior Leo Saver, and freshman Sean Muchnok took fourth place (1:54.90) in the 200-Meter Medley Relay.

The relay team of seniors Kevin Butler and Lucas Kuremsky, junior Matthew Gnandt, and freshman Sean Muchnok received seventh place (3:56.68) in the 400-Meter Freestyle Relay.
