Mars Area High School JV Hockey Team defeated the Chartiers Valley Colts 5-0 in the final game of the 2023 PIHL Junior Varsity Tier 3A Tournament on March 29, earning the championship title.
The Fightin’ Planets defeated the Neshannock Lancers 5-2 in the PIHL semifinals on March 22; and topped the Butler Golden Tornados 8-1 in the quarterfinals on March 20. The team finished the regular season with an overall record of 15-1-1 in JV Tier 3 Division 1 competition.

Mars Area High School Boys Varsity Hockey Team ended the 2022-2023 regular season with an overall record of 5-15 in Class 2A Varsity competition.

Two members of Mars Area High School Boys Varsity Hockey Team were selected to compete in the 2023 Pennsylvania Interscholastic Hockey League (PIHL) Class 2A All-Star Game at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 29, at Robert Morris University Island Sports Center.
Senior Ian Edinger (defense) and sophomore Sam Steigerwald (forward) will compete as members of the Class 2A All -Star Team.

Mars Area High School Boys Varsity Hockey Team is aiming for a return to post-season competition.
The Fightin’ Planets ended the 2021-2022 regular season with an overall record of 5-14 and 3-9 in Class 2A Varsity West play.
Returning to this year’s team are seniors Ian Edinger and Willow Starkey; and juniors Declan Abbey, Nathan Bossola, Jacob Lestitian, Ethan Lipchin, Will Matusek and Ben Olshenske.
