Kasperowicz is a 2018 National Federation of High School (NFHS) Coach of the Year; a 2017 National Coach of the Year finalist; an Associated Press and Pennsylvania Football News State Coach of the Year (2020, 2017, 2014); Pittsburgh Post-Gazette WPIAL Coach of the Year (2020, 2017, 2014); and Conference Coach of the Year in (2020, 2019, 2017, 2014).
Most recently, he served as a volunteer assistant coach for The University of Pittsburgh Panthers Football Team, which advanced to win the 2021 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Championship. Kasperowicz had played as a linebacker and defensive back for the Pittsburgh Panthers (1994-1997), attending the University of Pittsburgh on a football scholarship and graduating with a master’s degree in movement science.
Kasperowicz served for eight seasons as head coach of Pine-Richland High School Varsity Football Team, leading the Rams to achieve an overall record of 85-18 as well as four WPIAL Championships Titles (2014, 2017, 2018, 2020) and two PIAA Championship Titles (2017, 2020). He was the team’s offensive coordinator for the three years prior to becoming head coach.
He began his career as an assistant coach for 12 seasons at North Hills High School, his alma mater, where he now serves as a GATE teacher.
During his high school football career, he served as a defensive back and a quarterback, throwing for 6,869 yards and leading the team to win both the 1993 WPIAL and PIAA titles.
In 1993, Kasperowicz was named a Parade Magazine All-American Quarterback; and, in 1994, he was selected as the Associated Press, Big 33, and USA Today Pennsylvania Player of the Year and named among the YMCA Top 100 Scholar-Athletes in Pennsylvania. Kasperowicz was also named Game MVP and Team Captain at the 1994 Big 33 Football Classic.
He was inducted into the North Hills Sports Hall of Fame in 2003 and, as an athlete, into the WPIAL Hall of Fame in 2014. In 2006, a Pittsburgh Tribune-Review poll selected Kasperowicz as the WPIAL All-Time Greatest Football Player and All-Purpose Player.
Kasperowicz serves as a member of the Nike Coach of the Year Clinic Advisory Board; is the Pennsylvania State Football Coaches Association (PSFCA) District 7 representative. He lives in Gibsonia.
