Junior Laura Craska (infield) and junior Abby Robinson (outfield) were named to the All-Section 3-5A First Team; senior Stephanie Esswein (infield), freshman Tessa Simoni (outfield) and junior Gabrielle Rapport (pitcher) to the Second Team; and, senior Taylor Schmitt (catcher), senior Mayson Kennedy (designated hitter) and freshman Allie Walukiewicz (infield) received Honorable Mentions.

Varsity Softball Team Ends Season in WPIAL Playoffs
Mars Area High School Varsity Softball Team advanced to the first round of the 2024 WPIAL Class 5A Varsity Softball Championship on May 13; but, were defeated 9-8 by the North Hills Indians
The Lady Planets ended the regular season with an overall record of 6-12 and 5-5 in Section 3-5A.
Players on this year’s team include seniors Mayson Kennedy and Taylor Schmitt, who have signed letters of intent to continue their softball careers at West Liberty University (W.Va.) and Seton Hill University, respectively.
Rounding out the team are seniors Stephanie Esswein, Madison Lambert, Marley Peterman and Adela Schrecengost; juniors Laura Craska, Ava Herbolich, Gabrielle Rapport and Abby Robinson; sophomores Lauren Chadwick, Olivia Dickson, Gianna Goodman, Isabel Radens, Lily Rupp, Sophia Soltis and Grace Wilson; and, freshmen Edyn Giammatteo, Paige Lauten, Faith Pearson, Callie Simoni, Tessa Simoni and Allie Walukiewicz.
