Mars Area High School senior Sophia Maestra has signed a letter of intent to join the Presidents Women’s Golf Team at Washington and Jefferson College, where she plans to major in communications and minor in political science.

Maestra is a three-year member of Mars Area High School Girls Varsity Golf Team, which advanced to the 2019 WPIAL Class 3A Girls Varsity Golf Team Championship.

In 2021, Maestra advanced to compete in the Section 1-3A WPIAL Individual Qualifier; and, she participated in the Women’s Golf Association of Western Pennsylvania Carol Semple Thompson Junior Girls Golf Clinic. At the 2020 Mars Girls Golf Outing, Maestra earned her first hole-in-one on the No. 3 hole (108 yards) at Connoquenessing Country Club.

Maestra is graduating a year early from Mars Area High School, where she is a member of FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America), FBLA National Honor Society, and National Honor Society. In the community, she volunteers at First Tee — Pittsburgh.
