Mars Area High School graduate Matt White (Class of 2014) will take the field as a punter/kicker for the United States Football League (USFL) New Orleans Breakers in the 2022 USFL Playoff semifinal game against the Birmingham Stallions at 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 25, at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium (Canton, Ohio)
The Breakers drafted White in in 2022. Prior to joining the team, he had attended a New York Giants local day; worked out for the Atlanta Falcons and New York Jets; participated in a Pittsburgh Steelers minicamp; and, joined in a Canadian Football League Hamilton Tiger-Cats preseason camp.
A 2018 graduate of Monmouth University, White served as a kicker on the Hawks Men’s Football Team. At Mars Area High School, White was a punter/kicker on Mars Area High School Boys Varsity Football Team and helped lead the Fightin’ Planets to back-to-back Greater Allegheny Conference titles in 2010 and 2012.
As a high school senior, he set seven school records including punting average (39.1 percent), longest punt (61 yards), single season PATs (53) and scoring as a kicker (62 points). In 2014, he was ranked as the fourth best kicker and the second best combo kicker by ProKicker.com and was named a ProKicker.com All-American Second Team Punter and Second Team Punter/Kicker combo.
