Mars Area School Board has appointed Douglas Skelley to fill the position of assistant principal at Mars Area High School.
Skelley will replace Jessica Semler, who served as assistant principal at Mars Area High School for one year and is returning to her position as a third grade teacher at Mars Area Elementary School.
He previously served as dean of students at Meadville Area Senior High School; as dean of students and a teacher in Philadelphia School District; a site leader at Springboard Collaborative (Philadelphia); and as an English and social studies teacher at St. Helena School (Philadelphia).
Skelley holds a master’s degree in education from Pennsylvania State University and a bachelor’s degree in science from Slippery Rock University. He is working toward a doctorate in education at Slippery Rock University.
A resident of Hermitage, Pa., Skelley also hold secondary education certifications for English and social studies as well as an elementary education certification (preK-4) and a Pennsylvania Principal certification (K-12).
