Vo-Tech Students Place in SkillsUSA Competition

Four Mars Area High School students, who attend Butler County Area Vocational-Technical School, placed in the 2022 SkillsUSA “Champions at Work” District 10 Competition, held Jan. 13 at the New Castle School of Trades.

Senior Cody Safreed, a Protective Services student, earned first place in the Fire Fighting contest and qualified for the 2022 SkillsUSA Pennsylvania State Conference, to be held April 12-14 in Hershey, Pa.

Junior Veronica Harper, a Cosmetology student, received third place in the Action Skills contest. The team of juniors Logan Caparosa, Carter Horton and one other Welding student, took third place in the Welding Fabrication contest.

The students competed against high school students from other District 10 career and technical education centers. The SkillsUSA competition reinforces the field-related skills that students are learning in the classroom as well as their leadership prowess.
