Mars Area High School will offer Career Awareness Program (CAP) Day activities for students (Grades 9-12) on Wednesday, April 12.

Students will join in activities specifically designed for their grade level:

    • Career Interest Surveys & Assessments (Naviance)
    • Introduction to the Challenge Program/Scholarships and Vo-Tech Presentation
    • Introduction of Career Mentoring Plan and Road Trip Nation
  • Grade 10 —
    • PSAT 10 Assessments
  • Grade 11 —
    • College Panel or Career Panel
    • Mock Accident
    • Dr. Brophy on Trends in Substance Abuse Seminar
    • Graduation Requirements Completion in Naviance
  • Grade 12 —
    • Prom & Graduation Information Meeting
    • Senior Survey
    • Mock Accident
    • Dr. Brophy on Trends in Substance Abuse Seminar
    • Financial Literacy Presentation

The day will engage students in relevant and meaningful self-exploration, aptitude assessment, and educational experiences that will support their future planning and help them safely reach their desired goals. It will also help all students ensure that they are meeting all graduation requirements regarding the Career Readiness Indicator and the Industry-Based Learning Indicator for the Future Ready PA Index. Please ensure that your children are present on this day.

Mars Area High School will hold a Mock Accident Assembly for juniors and seniors on the morning of Wednesday, April 12th as part of CAP Day. This will take place in the auditorium parking lot at approximately 9:10 AM. Please note: THIS IS NOT AN ACTUAL EMERGENCY!

The mock accident is designed to resemble a real accident in every aspect to demonstrate the serious consequences of drinking and driving. Adams Area Fire District, Adams Township Police Department, Butler County Coroner, Butler County 911, Callery Volunteer Fire Company, Middlesex Fire Company, AHN Wexford Prehospital Response, LifeFlight, Quality EMS, Shriek EFX Studios, and Classic Automotive will all participate in the dramatization.

On April 12th, all students with permit #233 through #349 will park in the Middle School parking lot that is closest to Route 228 and/or the lot that is closest to Three Degree Road.  Shuttle buses will be provided from the Middle School to the High School from 7:10 AM – 7:30 AM. There will also be a bus provided at the end of each period and then after the buses leave at 2:40 PM from the High School to the Middle School. Please plan accordingly to ensure student promptness.  All students must use the provided shuttle buses, no student should be crossing Route 228 on foot.

This event is part of Mars Area High School’s Prom Promise campaign and is sponsored by the school’s REACH (Responsible Educated Adolescents Can Help) program.

To accommodate CAP Day activities, Mars Area High School will run on a modified bell scheduled on Wednesday, April 12.

Homeroom: 7:30-7:40- Shuttle from 7:10-7:30 from MS to HS

CAP Day Activities: 7:45-11:19- Shuttle at 11:25 from HS to MS

Period 4: 11:23-11:51- Shuttle at 11:55 from HS to MS

Period 5: 11:54-12:22- Shuttle at 12:30 from HS to MS

Period 6: 12:26-12:54- Shuttle at 1:00 from HS to MS

Period 7: 12:58-1:26- Shuttle at 1:30 from HS to MS

Period 8: 1:30-1:58- Shuttle at 2:05 from HS to MS

Period 9: 2:02-2:32- Shuttle at 2:40 from HS to MS- after other buses leave campus
