MAHS REACH Club Sponsors Presents Mock Accident Assembly

Seniors and juniors at Mars Area High School received a first hand look at the serious consequences of driving under the influence as part of a Mock Accident assembly on April 12.

The mock accident was designed to resemble a real accident in every aspect. The presentation included student actors and real first responders from Adams Area Fire District, Adams Township Police Department, Butler County Coroner, Butler County 911, Callery  Volunteer Fire Company, Middlesex Fire Company, AHN Wexford Pre-Hospital Response, LifeFlight and Quality EMS.

The vehicles used in the dramatization were donated by Classic Automotive Inc.  And, Shriek EFX Studios provided the make-up for the student actors — seniors Emma Hannan, Lia Mironianski and Emma Prazer and junior Nathalie Lopez.

Immediately, following the Mock Accident assembly, students attended a presentation by Dr. C. Thomas Brophy of the  Ellen O’Brien Gaiser Center, who spoke with the students about the impacts of addiction.

The event was offered as part of Mars Area High School’s Prom Promise campaign and was sponsored by the school’s REACH (Responsible Educated Adolescents Can Help) program.
