Mars Area High School’s French classes have announced the winners of the school’s 2023 “Manie Musicale de Mars” music bracket competition, held in March.

Freshman Carter Gallagher was the overall winner with 30 points and was the only student to choose the correct champion song. Freshman Sabine Bowser was named the French 1 winner (8 points); sophomore Elianna Maher, French 2 (13 points); junior Abby Lape, French 3 (20 points); and senior Shannon Sticinski, French 4 (14 points).

The competition, a play on “March Madness,” encouraged students to listen to contemporary French music; participate in supplemental activities; and connect with the larger French-speaking community. Students participated in the national activity by submitting brackets and voting for their favorite songs.
