Several Mars Area High School students were inducted into the school’s Spanish National Honor Society (Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica) Chapter for the 2022-2023 School Year.
Students are seniors Madalyn Gribble, Noah Nesselroad, Jeremy Stevenson and Samantha Teixido; juniors Declan Abbey, Nicholas Ferrari, Katelyn McKee, Sarah McKee, Brooke Nihoff, Ryan Schnitgen, Sydney Shoemaker, Lillyanna Staines and Ella Tirch; and, sophomores Madalynn Balfour, William Campbell, McKenna Chileski, Hailey Duker, Morgan Duker, Trinity Finn, Eva Fratto, Breanna Goerl, Annelie Gustafsson, Lily Javor, Jaya Kaleida, Greg Kleber, Brandon Lego, Emily Long, Skyler Manganaro, Vivien Miller, Sean Muchnok, Ella Nicotra, Isabella Orr, Brynn Ramsey, Gabrielle Rapport, Ella Roach, Abigail Robinson, Alivia Shutack, Nicholas Smith, Colin Stevenson, Kyleigh Turner, Vita Vargo and Elyse Wingertsahn.
Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica is an honor society for high school sophomores, juniors and seniors who are enrolled in Spanish. To be eligible, students must have a minimum of 90 percent in all of their Spanish courses; must commit to complete all four years of the language; and must maintain a 3.0 average GPA.
The goal of honor society, which is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP), is to recognize high school achievement in Spanish and Portuguese and to promote interest in Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian studies.
