Mars Area High School senior Ryan Steigerwald has signed a letter of intent to join the Presidents Men’s Golf Team at Washington & Jefferson College (Washington, Pa.), where he plans to major in business/finance.

Steigerwald is a three-year member of Mars Area High School Boys Varsity Golf Team, which earned the Section 3-3A Title and advanced to take second place in the semifinal round and third place in the final round of the 2022 WPIAL Class 3A Boys Varsity Golf Team Championships. The Fightin’ Planets also took first place at the 2022 MAC Boys Varsity Golf Tournament, where Steigerwald tied for second place.

In individual competition, Steigerwald placed at the 2022 WPIAL Class 3A Boys Varsity Golf Individual Championships. Recently, he earned fourth place at the Hilton Head Junior Open (March 11-12); tied for 10th place at the New Jersey Kickoff at Seaview (March 25-26); and tied for fourth place at the Pittsburgh Spring Junior Challenge (April 1-2).

At Mars Area High School, Steigerwald served as a member of Key Club and, during his freshman year, as a member of the Boys Varsity Cross Country and Track & Field teams. In the community, he works at Applebee’s.
