Mars Area School District will hold its 2023 Homecoming Celebration, Monday, Sept. 25, through Saturday, Sept. 30.
The theme of this year’s celebration is “Night at the Carnival.” The District's schools will hold the following Spirit Week theme days:
- Monday, Sept. 25 — “PJ Day” — Comfy clothes or pajamas
- Tuesday, Sept. 26 — “Twin Tuesday”
- Wednesday, Sept. 27 — “Wild West Wednesday” — Western outfits (flannels, jeans, cowboy hats, etc.)
- Thursday, Sept. 28 — “Dress Like a Celebrity Day”
- Friday, Sept. 29 — “Mars Day” — Blue and gold colors
The 2023 Homecoming Parade will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 29, in Downtown Mars, followed by the Fightin’ Planets Homecoming Football Game against the Highlands Golden Rams at 7 p.m. at Mars Athletic Complex.
The Homecoming Queen will be crowned at halftime. Candidates for Homecoming Queen are seniors Brooke Beck, Brooke Bowes, Cece Crowley, Addi Girdwood, Lily Goodworth, Riley Mayer, Nora Solich and Ella Tirch.
The week will conclude with Mars Area High School’s 2023 Homecoming Dance, to be held from 7 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30, at Mars Area Middle School.
The Homecoming King will be crowned during the dance. Candidates for Homecoming King are seniors Nicholas Ferrari, Ryan Garver, Jacob Maple, Ben Matusek, Will Matusek, Adam McElhinny, Evan Wright and Cole Yoshioka.
Honorary court members are exchange students Charlotte Nikel (Germany) and Marko Pavlovski (North Macedonia).
The week will conclude with Mars Area High School’s 2023 Homecoming Dance, to be held from 7 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30, at Mars Area Middle School. The Homecoming King will be crowned during the dance.
Dance tickets are $20 per student and may be purchased through Friday, Sept. 29, at the Student Council booth at Mars Area High School. A completed Homecoming Ticket Order Form (available online at https://4.files.edl.io/a476/09/05/23/202530-29c823f4-371a-4004-8056-fa6e096c5387.pdf) and payment is due at the time of ticket purchase. Checks may be made payable to “Mars High Activity Fund.”
