Mars Area High School junior Samantha Mazurek was selected as a winner in the Slippery Rock University Institute for Nonprofit Leadership Well-Being Art Contest.
Mazurek earned first place in the Heath Care Systems category for her submission, “Doctor’s Visit;” and first place in the Community & Social Context category for her work, “Internal Demons.”
The contest spotlights the factors that influence health and well-being in Butler County communities by inviting students to explore six categories that shape the social determinants of health — Economic Stability, Neighborhood and Physical Environment, Education, Food, Community and Social Context, and Health Care System.
All winning entries will be showcased in an exclusive calendar that will be made available throughout Butler County and in a traveling exhibit to be held in Spring 2024.
