Three Mars Area High School student athletes signed letters of intent to continue their sports careers at the college level:
Gael Avalos signed a letter of intent to join the Mighty Macs Men’s Lacrosse Team at Immaculata University (East Whiteland Township, Pa.), where he plans to major in nursing.
Avalos is a two-year member of Mars Area High School Boys Varsity Lacrosse Team, which took second place in the 2023 PIAA Class 2A Boys Varsity Lacrosse Championships, after earning its seventh consecutive WPIAL Title as well as the 2023 Section 2-2A title.
Connor Hartle signed a letter of intent to join the Vulcans Football Team at California University of Pennsylvania — PennWest California, where he plans to major in finance.
Hartle is a four-year member of Mars Area High School Varsity Football Team, which ended the 2023 season in the semifinals of the WPIAL Class 4A Varsity Football Championships and earned the Greater Allegheny Conference title. A defensive end, he was named to the 2023 All-Conference First Team Defense.
At Mars Area High School, Hartle is also a four-year member of Boys Varsity Lacrosse Team. In the community, he volunteers with youth camps at Gospel Fellowship Church.
Cole Yoshioka signed a letter of intent to join the Seahawks Men’s Lacrosse Team at Wagner College (Staten Island, N.Y.) where he has yet to declare a major.
Yoshioka is a four-year member of Mars Area High School Boys Varsity Lacrosse Team, which took second place in the 2023 PIAA Class 2A Boys Varsity Lacrosse Championships, after earning its seventh consecutive WPIAL Title as well as the 2023 Section 2-2A title.
At Mars Area High School, he is a member of German Club and German National Honor Society as well as a two-year member of the Boys Varsity Football Team. In the community, he volunteers at Mars Youth Lacrosse Association youth camps.
