Seniors Nominated for Vo-Tech Student of the Year

Two Mars Area High School seniors are nominated for 2023-2024 Butler County Area Vocational-Technical School Student of the Year.

Alivia Miller and Michaela WilbertAlivia Miller, a student in the vo-tech’s Collision Repair program, and Michaela Wilbert, a Cosmetology student, are among 30 vo-tech students, who were nominated for the honor based on their leadership qualities, trustworthiness, and responsibility in creating a progressive school environment while being respectful to both peers and teachers. Nominees are considered to be conscientious students, who complete assignments on time and make an effort to earn certifications; exhibit outstanding behavior; and have a good attendance record.

As part of the selection process, each nominee participates in a progressive series of interviews, for which students must prepare and present an educational portfolio showcasing their accomplishments. Students must also give a speech at the final interview.

First-round interviews were held Jan. 30-Feb 2 and second-round interviews will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 28. The vo-tech will announce the 2023-2023 Student of the Year at its annual Awards Program, to be held on Thursday, May 23.
