Mars Area Middle School Hockey Team earned first place in the 2024 PIHL Middle School Tournament Tier 2, defeating the Central Catholic Vikings 4-1 in the final game of the championship on March 25.

The Fightin’ Planets grounded the Connellsville Falcons 5-0 in the semifinals on March 18, and tamed the Greater Latrobe Wildcats 3-12 in the quarterfinals on March 11.

Team members include sophomore Carter Gallagher; freshmen Luke Bowser, Gus Coffield, Alex Frengel, Owen Krock, Daniel Maloney, Anthony Piccirilli, Renzo Sylvester; and, eighth-graders Luke Andre, William Daw, Michael DeMarco, Gino Goodman, Garrett Myers, Rocco Piccirilli, Anderson Santa, Samuel Ussack, Alexander Van Horn and Tyler Whitling.
