Effective immediately, Mars Area School District will be towing any student vehicles that are illegally parked on the Mars Area High School campus.
This increase in parking enforcement is in response to the sheer volume of students, who are parking illegally in spaces reserved for staff and visitors to the school. In recent weeks, school officials have issued numerous warnings to students for parking in spaces other than those designated for student parking. Unfortunately, despite these warnings, students are continuing to violate the District’s student parking regulations.
As per District Policy 223 Use of Motor Vehicles, any student driver, who violates parking regulations will be subjected to in-school or out-of-school suspension and/or have his/her parking privileges revoked. As stated in the policy, parking violations may also warrant a vehicle to be towed off of school property at the owners’ expense.
All student drivers are required to park in the assigned space as designated on their parking permit. Under no circumstances are students permitted to park in the staff parking lot or in any other space during school hours. Parking permits must be visibly displayed on the vehicle’s rearview mirror.
The District urges that all parents/guardians remind students that driving to school and student parking are privileges, not a right; and that a failure to comply with student parking regulations will result in the removal of this privileges.
We thank you for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Lindsay Rosswog, Principal
Mars Area High School
Mr. Doug Skelley, Assistant Principal
