Students Inducted into Spanish National Honor Society

Numerous Mars Area High School students were inducted in the school’s Spanish National Honor Society chapter. At Mars Area High School’s Spanish National Honor Society (Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica) Chapter has named its 2024-2025 officers and inducted several new members.

Officers are sophomores Kiara Van Wyk (President), Stevie Oberhofer (Vice President), Victoria Caringola (Secretary) and Madeline James (Treasurer).

Other new inductees are juniors Mackenzie Aufderheide, Jenna Caringola, Samantha Carmelite, Luca Duerring, Liam Hein, Brady Jordan, Jolie Manning, Ethan Palmer, Ella Pierce, Brooke Southwell, Madelyn Turney, Addisyn Vavala, Alexander Vidic and Maxwell Zagorski; and, sophomores Taylor Bishop, Josie Dressen, Sean Franklin, Alexander Gatto, Ava Girdwood, Jake Golebiewski, Gianna Goodman, Hannah Lipchin, Addison Orehowsky, Anna McGrath, Theresa McGrath, Riana Palm, Hudson Shipler, Brody Slavicek, Avery Symchak, and Nathan Tak.

Madeline James, Victoria Caringola, Kiara Van Wyk and Stevie Oberhofer were selected as the chapter’s 2024-2025 officers.Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica is an honor society for high school sophomores, juniors and seniors who are enrolled in Spanish. To be eligible, students must have a minimum of 90 percent in all of their Spanish courses; must commit to complete all four years of the language; and must maintain a 3.0 average GPA.

The goal of honor society, which is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP), is to recognize high school achievement in Spanish and Portuguese and to promote interest in Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian studies.
