Mars Area High School’s spring production of Mary Poppins: The Broadway Musical, earned Best Musical (Budget Level 3) at the 2024 Henry Mancini Musical Theatre Awards Ceremony, held May 19 at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center.
In addition, the production received awards for Best Ensemble, Best Execution of Choreography, Best Crew/Technical Execution, Best Execution of Direction, Best Student Orchestra and a Special Judge Award for its fundraiser to support the family of Mars Area High School senior Miranda Gehm, who was diagnosed with aplastic anemia and is recovering from a stem cell transplant, and to benefit Inspired Hearts & Hands. Also of note, junior Dominic Speranza is one of two students selected to receive a CLO Academy Scholarship.
At the Awards Ceremony, the cast of Mary Poppins performed the production number, “Step in Time.” Individual award nominees, senior Lauren Karg (Best Actress), senior Nicholas Ferrari (Best Actor), freshman Jenna Smith (Best Supporting Actress) and sophomore Aidan Krepin (Best Supporting Actor) as well as senior cast representatives Mira Ramanathan and Ella Tirch also performed.

Senior Lauren Karg, who portrayed Mary Poppins, is nominated for Best Actress; senior Nicholas Ferrari (Bert) for Best Actor; freshman Jenna Smith (Jane Banks) for Best Supporting Actress; and sophomore Aidan Krepin (Michael Banks) for Best Supporting Actor.
