Rob Carmody, Mars Area High School Boys Varsity Basketball Head Coach, has announced that he will be resigning from the position after 26 seasons.
During his tenure as coach, Carmody amassed a career record of 408-235 and led the Fightin’ Planets to two WPIAL titles and nine section titles. Also of note, the team advanced 17 times to the WPIAL playoffs and twice to the final game of the PIAA Championships.
Carmody was named a 2019-2020 Section 3-5A Coach of the Year and was previously selected as the 2017-2018 Butler Eagle and Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Boys Basketball Coach of the Year and the 2015-2016 Pennsylvania Sports Writers’ Coach of the Year.
